Relaunched Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory
The high end porcelain manufactory Nymphenburg was in need of a relaunch.
Christiane Bördner from the Gaabs called me up to develop the project, and i was happy to be art directing it from the strategy to content ideas, from the design concept to the actual website design and development.
Though Nymphenburg as a company has an immense heritage and is deeply rooted in tradition and history, the people in the company are open minded and international with a sense for the avant grade. They have a wide range of products, from decorative to useful, from delicate to bold. Along with useful tableware, they produce religious objects as well as flirty little figurines, sculptures for the garden as well as abstract art installations. All their products are perfected with extreme attention to the very detail.
A painter is expected a decade of experience, and it takes up to 3 weeks to finish just one single piece of their famous Cumberland service -the world's most complex flower design that is today still realized on porcelain- with its value summing up to 19.500€. Yes, per plate.
Throughout their hundreds of years of history they have collaborated with contemporary artists, lately also with fashion designers from Valentino to Gareth Pugh. The beautiful product lines produced with the designer Ruth Gurvich and that with the artist Olaf Nicolai are my personal highlights. Two art projects are being developed each year, so stay tuned for more!
